Zoals de betekenis van de hand in dit geval. Daarom heb een mailtje gestuurd naar de VVAG in Amsterdam omdat daar ook twee gevelstenen met open hand staan maar ook zonder een beschrijving/betekenis. Dus afwachten. Is jullie op 737_1102 ook die provisorische afwatering aan de zijkant van het pand opgevallen ?
Het in stand houden van historie is complex en vereist kennis en betrokkenheid. Ik ben bang dat degenen die ik gesproken heb en aan de knoppen zitten juist daarvan weinig meegekregen hebben. Hierover valt nog best veel meer te typen. Gaan we niet doen! En dan ben ik nog blij dat ik niet in een van de vele boeiende steden in België woon want daar is het nog veel gekker. Maar inderdaad... hier is nog best veel moois! Jij hebt hier in ieder geval de positieve kant naar voren gebracht Johan!
Afijn, in navolging van Ad denk ik bij nader inzien ook dat dit pand herbouwd is. De achtergevel ziet er splinternieuw uit, de dakpannen zijn oud maar zullen wel hergebruikt zijn. De voorgevel is stevig aangepakt, het bovendeel (halverwege het grote raam en hoger) is nieuw maar sommige stukken daaronder lijken me nog wel origineel, o.a. het muizentandfries. Beschadigingen en kleine details in het voegwerk in de huidige toestand zijn bijv. ook op de foto van de oude situatie (551_315206) zichtbaar. Ook de 'joggel' in de gevel is er nog. Dan de steen: het jaarboek van VOD geeft aan dat de bouw- en sloopvergunning in 1973 was verleend en het pand zal niet al te lang daarna aangepakt zijn. Op een foto die ik in 1980 maakte was de oude voorgevel (zoals 551_315206) al veranderd in die van nu maar mét gevelsteen die duidelijk niet gerestaureerd was. Blijkbaar heeft de onderpui na 1980 nog een renovatie ondergaan (ik denk nog in de tachtiger jaren) waarbij de steen verwijderd en nooit meer teruggekomen is,
Daarbij is het interessant om te weten waarom deze afbeelding door toenmalige eigenaar op het gevelsteentje is ingebracht. Had dit te maken met zijn beroep? Onder de hand lijkt nog een kraag van een jas o.d. zichtbaar.
